Getting from here to Net Zero: are we just fooling ourselves, or can it actually be done?

In this luncheon briefing, Danielle Welsh-Rose, Head of Sustainability, APAC and Camille Simeon, Investment Director, Australian Equities, abrdn tackled the following questions:

• The chances of the world achieving net zero by 2050 are increasingly unlikely. Can we get back on track?

• How might climate change regulation for the finance sector develop, and what are the implications for investors?

• Not all climate scenario analysis is created equal, so what is the best approach and where can we make the largest impact in reaching our climate ambitions at the asset level?

Danielle Welsh-Rose

Head of Sustainability Specialists, Head of Sustainability APAC, and Head of the Sustainability Institute, APAC

In her role as Head of Sustainability Specialists, Danielle leads the team supporting end-to-end client sustainability propositions, including incubating sustainability commercialisation ideas, owning the sustainability narrative, and leading the development of sustainability training.

As Head of Sustainability, APAC, and Head of the Sustainability Institute, APAC Danielle develops and leads ESG strategy for the region, supports the integration of ESG factors into investment decision-making across Asia-Pacific, and advocates for the importance of sustainability capabilities with clients and other stakeholders across the region.

Previously, Danielle was Head of ESG for the Victorian Funds Management Corporation, and held senior roles in consulting and superannuation focusing on sustainability investing.

Camille Simeon

Camille Simeon is an Investment Director on the Australian Equities Team at abrdn with portfolio management responsibilities for the Australian Equities Funds and stock analyst covering the mining, energy and technology sectors. Camille is the global equities representative on the steering group for the abrdn Climate Scenarios Analysis Tool.

Camille joined abrdn in April 2008. Previously, Camille worked at Citi Australia, where she was a Vice President, Institutional Equity Research Sales. Camille has also worked at Foster Stockbroking, BNP Paribas and Burdett Buckeridge Young.
