Unbundling tech in Superannuation: are specialised plays leading to better outcomes?

Historically, Australian superannuation funds have relied on their administration providers for much of their technology infrastructure and a wide range of services: However, as the scope of activities for modern superannuation funds has expanded—driven by evolving regulations, rising compliance demands, cybersecurity threats requiring specialised expertise, and growing member expectations—the need for specialised skills has become increasingly clear. Funds must leverage data and technology to meet these challenges and deliver user experiences that keep pace with the ever-increasing expectations of their members.

Fund executives have found that unbundling legacy arrangements and overlaying specialist data and technology skills can lead to better outcomes. This approach is now being adopted in various forms across the industry.

At this luncheon series Ash Priest, CEO of Novigi, talked about ways these challenges have been thought about and how fund executives can harness their existing technologies to drive better outcomes.
