About the course
This subject examines the history of, and reasons for, merger & acquisition activity providing a rationale for the study of the following elements of the process of merger:
The search for and evaluation of strategic targets
The legal and operational due diligence processes
Offensive and defensive M&A tactics by both acquirers and targets
Valuation and financing of acquisitions and the importance of post-deal integration

ABOUT THE LECTURER:
David Trende is a Principal Fellow of the school and has taught continuously at MBS since 1986. After graduation David tutored and lectured in the Department of Accounting & Finance at Monash University for sixteen years to both undergraduates and students in the Monash MBA program. In 1986 he joined MBS as an adjunct and continues to teach across almost all the award programs offered by the school. This includes the regular MBA, Executive MBA and Senior Executive MBA.
He has also taught on many executive education courses for the school as well as privately conducting many courses for some of Australia’s leading corporates.
David is still active as a founding partner of a boutique corporate advisory firm, currently active in commercializing medical devices. He and his fellow founding partner formed, acquired, owned and managed many small and medium businesses over the years, including a number housed in small listed companies.
